TASKS

  • Read at least three readers according to your level of English.
  • Borrow the books from the school library that you can easily read: Level 1, 1ยบ ESO or starter (200-400 headwords). If you are very good at English you can always choose a higher level.
  • Read your next reader as soon as you want. More readers, more extra attitude marks

Deadlines

  • 1ST term reader: beginning of January
  • 2nd term reader: end of February.
  • 3rd term reader: beginning of May.

HOW TO WORK WITH THE READERS

Read your book and hand out a report including these data:

1. Title of the book
2. Author’s name
3. Student’s name
4. Student’s class
5. Glossary.
As you read the book write the words and translation of the words you need to look at.
6. Ten most difficult words. Write them and add their translation.
7. Write a sentence trying to include as many of these difficult words as you can.
8. Characters:
Main characters. Describe them.
Secondary characters. Name them.
9. Summary. 50 -70 words.
- Say what it is about: adventure, mystery, a love story, a play, a science fiction book, a thriller, a history book, a biography, a travel book, etc.
- Include only the most important information.
- Write simple language and short sentences.
- Don't give unnecessary examples, details or personal opinions.
- Write the correct number of words.
- Read your summary several times to make any necessary changes.
10. Write your personal opinion in no more than 50 words.
- What characters/ sections/ aspects of the book did you find most interesting?
- Give reasons.
- Was it difficult or easy? How long was it? The most difficult was the vocabulary structures or content.
- Did you find it useful, boring, interesting, funny, soppy, awful, sad, intriguing, romantic, frightening...
- Would you recommend the book?

Once the teacher has checked and corrected your composition, you will add the following parts to this blog, that are: Title of the book, Author’s name, Student’s name, Student’s class, Ten most difficult words, A sentence with the ten most difficult words, Summary, Personal Opinion. In order to post all this, first, you must find the picture of your book and then, click on COMMENTS. If you haven't got a gmail account, the easiest way to post is selecting "ANONYMOUS"
